I’m Cathy. I spent twenty years untangling complicated systems for large companies. Now I help people untangle the ones making their own lives harder.
Where I come from
I was born in Ghent, Belgium, and spent my teenage years between Belgium and Argentina. I moved to the United States in 1997.
I live in Pompano Beach, Florida. I have two adult children and two grandchildren.
What I did before this
For about twenty years I worked as a project manager, and later a senior project director, in banking and payments. The job was to walk into something large and tangled, work out what was actually happening, and build a plan people could follow.
That meant data governance and regulatory programs, cybersecurity, system migrations, and operations transformations across Latin America and beyond. Budgets in the millions. Teams that did not always agree with each other. Deadlines that did not move.
Why I do this
The skill turned out to be the same one. A benefits application, a consulate, a pile of unopened mail, and a bank’s regulatory program are all the same kind of problem: a system that makes sense to the people who built it and to almost nobody else.
I have watched people lose money, time, and confidence in that gap. Not because they were careless, but because no one ever sat down and showed them how it worked. That is what I do now.

Confusion is expensive, and plenty of people count on you staying confused. Part of my job is helping you see how vulnerability gets exploited, so you can protect yourself and your family from it.
